- Wegovy and Mounjaro, which are both GLP-1 medications that are clinically proven to help people lose weight*. Wegovy is the brand name for the medication ‘semaglutide’ and Mounjaro is the brand name for the medication ‘tirzepatide.’ Clinical trials have shown that Mounjaro has a higher effectiveness as it targets both GLP-1 and GIP hormones, unlike Wegovy which only focuses on GLP-1. However, since Mounjaro is a newer medication in the UK, there is limited long-term safety data available compared to other medications. A prescribing pharmacist will review your consultation. If they deem the medication to be safe and effective for you, they will prescribe Wegovy or Mounjaro taking into account your goals and preference of medication.
- Both Wegovy and Mounjaro come in the form of injectable pens, which you use to deliver a weekly liquid injection of medication under the skin. - The outer packaging is a plain, discreet and unbranded bag, with a cardboard box inside.
- Before your first use, store your injection pens in a refrigerator (2° C to 8° C) (making sure to keep away from the cooling element). After your first use, store below 30° C or, preferably, in a refrigerator (2° C to 8° C). Do not freeze Wegovy and do not use your medication if it has been frozen. When the pen is not in use, make sure to keep the pen cap on. Do not expose the pen to direct sunlight.
